The Yurt Kitzbühel
This summer, The Yurt found a new home in Kitzbühel.
The idea began two years ago, when Julia Hopfner, one of the sisters behind the family-run Bichlhof, joined us for our closing party in Lech. We stayed in touch, and over time, the idea grew to bring The Yurt to Kitzbühel for a summer pop-up. Together with Julia, Lisa and the entire Hopfner family, we found the perfect setting for it at the Bichlhof.
For six weekends, our yurt found its place in the beautiful garden of the Bichlhof, overlooking the Wilder Kaiser. Together, we created a place to gather, meet, eat, drink and simply spend time together.
The summer yurt has a character of its own. While the winter yurt is warm, intimate and cocooning, the summer version is lighter, brighter and more open. Its sides can be opened up to let the air flow through, creating a relaxed connection between the inside and the garden. With tables, chairs and sun loungers surrounding the yurt, the entire garden becomes part of the experience — a place to enjoy long summer days and evenings, even on the warmest days.
Throughout the summer, we welcomed a series of guest chefs and special hosts, including Lukas Pieler, RAYA from Munich, SushiHeuriger and a dedicated barbecue and meat-tasting experience. In between, the yurt became a meeting point for locals, hotel guests and friends — a place for spontaneous gatherings, new conversations and long summer evenings.
For us, Kitzbühel was also an opportunity to show another side of The Yurt. While our home in Lech is deeply connected to winter, The Yurt was never meant to be limited to one season. The summer pop-up showed that its spirit works just as well in the sunshine: relaxed, open, social and always centred
around bringing people together.
The Bichlhof was the perfect setting. Like The Yurt, it is a family-run business built on passion, hospitality and a genuine connection to its surroundings. With the Hopfner family, we shared the same
ambition from the beginning: to create something with heart and to bring a new kind of summer
experience to Kitzbühel.
Together, we created something that had never existed in Kitzbühel before — a temporary summer destination with good food, good drinks, beautiful views and, above all, good company.
The Yurt Kitzbühel may have been a summer pop-up, but the idea behind it is here to stay: creating places where people come together, where the boundaries between inside and outside disappear, and where every encounter has the potential to become a memory.
